BRAND IDENTITY
Reunion Bread’s original brand identity was grounded in its product’s taste and reputation. In 2023, Ismael de Sousa was nominated as a semi-finalist for the James Beard Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker. To continue to engage its loyal following and attract new customers ahead of their move to a new location, we decided it was high time to establish the company’s identity as a go-to destination for artisanal bread, pastries, snacks, and one-of-a-kind creations in the Denver-metro area and beyond. Inspiration stemmed from the Reunion’s already existing work/products, de Sousa’s roots, and fine line work to compliment organic lines of Reunion’s product.
ART DIRECTION
Moving into a new retail space, Reunion Bread sought to establish a new art direction through digital and physical media. De Sousa’s inspiration comes from his previous employer, Zak the Baker (Miami) along with Tartine and Mamiche. The call was simple: clean aesthetics, real photos, easy navigation to information customers needs.
WEBSITE DESIGN
To start, we needed to establish Reunion Bread’s brand guidelines. This meant defining mission, vision, values, as well as fonts and colors. From there, we would update existing webpages and develop new ones like a landing page for paid ads, a place to order online, a wholesale order portal, and more. We also decided to present a quarterly newsletter for new and returning customers. Historically, Reunion makes many announcements via social media so it is important in this next chapter that Reunion can meet all customers where they’re at.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Inspired by the grit and realness of film, de Sousa requested that new images of the bakery, their goods, and their community be captured on film.
